Unroll Cloud Planning: 2017 SDS Market & Sales Team Held Kickoff Meeting

2017-03-23

Feb 28 – Mar. 1st, 2017, SDS Headquarters, the Marketing & Sales Department held a Kickoff Meeting with all Marketing & Sales staff. Mr. Bao Kai, the Marketing & Sales Manager, presided at the meeting.

At the beginning, Mr. Zhu Junjie, the Marketing Manager, delivered a summery of the department’s work in 2016 and then gave a clear introduction of the guidelines and sales objectives of the year 2017.

Ranging from the latest policies, to business introduction, to Q&A and case sharing, the Kickoff Meeting covered 13 topics, including: Explanation of the Latest MIIT Instruction, 2017 Cloud Business and Products Overview, VDC2.0 Introduction, Explanations of Computer Room Resource Management and Allocation Rules, AWS Business Introduction, VMware Hosting Provide Cloud Service Introduction, Ali Cloud: an Introduction and an Outlook for Future Cooperation, Calling up Recommendations on Improvement Measures in Operation Service Center, CRM Operating Skills and Q&A, Marketing and Sales Billing Policy Q&A and Relevant Process Introduction, ‘When there is something wrong, how would we let you know’, Mz. Hu Li (the SDS Top Seller) Shares with You Her Sales Experiences, as well as Value-added Business Department Case Sharing.

The first topic is Explanation of the Latest MIIT Instruction given by Mr. Wu Haochen, Administration and HR Manager, which immediately captured the attention of all account managers and aroused many questions. In January, the China MIIT released the Circular on Cleaning Up and Standardizing Internet Access Service Market, saying that, in a period from the issuance data to March 31st, 2018, a nationwide campaign will be launched to clean up and standardize domestic internet network access service market.

The MIIT will launch a thorough investigation over Chinese IDC, ISP and CDN markets and take legal actions against all cases of ‘operating without license’, ‘operations beyond registered business scope’ and ‘subleasing business’, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition, the MIIT will hold enterprises in the industry accountable for fulfilling their corporate responsibilities, strengthen the control over operation permits and access resources, enhance network information security management, and maintain the fairness and order of the market, to promote the healthy development of the industry. Clear explanation with concrete cases helped all staff constructed a clear understanding over the things they would handle in their daily work.

Also in this learning activity, a complete series of introductions of SDS Cloud products, as well as the knowledge and services that are designed to help SDS people better get along with our customers, not only received warm response from account managers, but also inspired great confidence in the marketing and sales team of future market development.

Apart from the tasks and topics on the agenda, the Kickoff Meeting also initiated ‘A Prize for a Case Contest’ drill. Very soon, the heat began building up in the air of the contest and all participants began showing special skills they don’t normally show to other people. It’s a great demonstration of how brilliant the SDS people are.

For the contest, account managers were divided into five groups by lots-drawing. Then, the group leaders, i.e. Mz. Huang Xiaoli, Mr. Zhou Yu, Mz. Hu Li, Mz. Chen Juan, and Mr. Gong Liming, did another lots drawing to get a ‘Case Topic’. Then, group members were randomly picked by a jury for a PK match. After all group members shared their thoughts on their ‘Case Topic’ on the stage, the jury reached consensus that Mz. Hua Yijie, a member of Huang Xiaoli Group, was the No. 1 of this Kickoff Drill Contest for her brilliant speech. To be honest, it’s not easy for a woman to win the prize in so fierce a competition. Mr. Liu Tao from Chen Juan Group and Mr. Dai Junlei from Hu Li Group took the second and third places for their excellent case analysis and powerful presentation.

Cloud computing is the future of SDS.

--- By Yao Gang

2017 is a very special year to us. There are more opportunities waiting us to bring out more talents in ourselves.

A few years ago, in this data center market, SDS was one of the top players. But things have changed. More and more rivals have entered into this market with strong technical capacity. As you can see, there are some aspects in which we’re not as good as our rivals.

It’s my expectation that, in 2017, we could move on from old attitudes and work harder than ever to ‘make a little difference’ and achieve a fast growth of our net profit.

To SDS, the most important capacity is ‘we could provide whatever our customers want’. So, he urged all account managers to perfect their selling skills and improve their knowledge about Cloud computing technologies. On the other hand, the company would also take active actions to search for the power sources for new breakthroughs and transformation and to help everyone make career progress. He said that although presently we were a neutral data center service provider, our future lies in Cloud computing.

The Kickoff Meeting successfully helped all people in the Marketing and Sales Department reached a consensus about the future objectives and the plan implementation. Motivated by company leaders, the SDS Marketing and Sales people made a clear statement of their determination and commitment to guarantee the achievement of 2017 sales target.
