2018-04-04
In the afternoon of March 16th, 2018, in Shanghai Exhibition Center, SDS proudly received the ‘SRUN’ Middle-&-Small Enterprise Title from the leader of Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Committee. The SRUN is an acronym for Specialized, Refined, Unique and New technologies. Mr. Rong Zhiqin, the Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Economy and Information Technology Committee (SHEITC) attended and addressed the ceremony. In his speech, he specified three expectations that he had for SDS and all SRUN middle-&-small enterprises in Shanghai. Specifically, he looked forward to seeing them to take the lead in practicing the ‘high-end market, innovation-driven and transformation for development’ strategy, the ‘Shanghai-based, nationwide coverage and world in touch’ strategy, and in ‘carrying forward outstanding entrepreneurship’.

SDS is always committed to the goal of ‘being a nation-leading, datacenter-based and technologically advanced IT service provider’. After years of hard work, SDS has already had a high-end datacenter brand that’s superior in both quality and management level, i.e. IDX Data Center, and earned the trust of and favor with finance industries and World Top 500 companies. In recent years, seeing the rapid development in mobile internet, big data, AI, 5G and Internet of Things (IOT) and other new technologies, SDS actively developed more resources and set out on the journey of industrial upgrading. In 2017, SDS’s private Cloud platform and VDC platform, both were developed independently, already started providing the market with full-process integrated business support solutions. SDS believes that its fast but stable growth should be attributed to the ‘high-end market, innovation-driven and transformation for development’ strategy.
In terms of international cooperation, i.e. the ‘Shanghai-based, nationwide coverage and world in touch’ strategy, SDS is proactively building technical cooperation relationships with global organizations to achieve greater progress in security, management, energy efficiency, Cloud service and other fields and, thereby, secure the leading position of its businesses in the industry.
There is a structural oversupply in Chinese IDC market. Internet Data Centers (IDC) in Tier 2 and 3 cities are obviously in excess of demand and, in Tier 1 cities, i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, will remain superfluous in the coming 3 to 5 years. Because of the limited land and power supply, there is still much scarcity value for IDCs to develop in future in Tier 1 cities. Or, on the other side, IDCs will continue to enjoy a bargaining power in their favor. SDS, therefore, will continue investing in developing even more resources, e.g. to build more high-class data centers, to develop more Cloud services (integrated Cloud solutions), and to improve service capacity. It’s expected that, by doing so, SDS could establish some advantageous core competiveness in the industry in Shanghai and present itself to the world as ‘the nation-leading, datacenter-based and technologically advanced IT service provider’.
The SRUN Middle & Small Enterprise appraisal is a biennial event. The appraisal criteria include: a leading position in a niche market, a good market prospect, and a good representation of industrial development in terms of product, technology, business format and operational approach. The SRUN is an acronym for Specialized, Refined, Unique and New technologies. And the SRUN Project has already successfully incubated a number of domestic and even international ‘hidden-champions’.
