Currently, driven by the fast development in internet, mobile internet, Cloud computing, Big Data technologies and their application, people are pacing up the construction of data centers around the globe. In the mean time, the energy-saving has become a problem of greater importance to all data centers than ever. Accordingly, not only data center operators but also governments of the world have started paying greater attention to the questions of how to reduce data center’s energy consumption and achieve green development. 

As an industry-leading data center operation, SDS has always put the construction of modern and green data centers as one of its key objectives and looked into this problem in a wide scope ranging from theoretical explorations at all professional levels to the actual implementation of new energy-saving practices. As everyone knows, a data center is mainly run by two functional teams, i.e. equipment and technology department (E&T Team) and operating and maintenance department (O&M Team). The O&M Team is responsible for the daily maintenance and servicing works and collecting basic operating data. While, the E&T Team is responsible for analyzing all basic operating data, putting up technical improvement recommendations, and actually carrying on improvement projects. 

SDS sticks to all information security management rules in the construction and implementation of all standard systems. In May 2009, SDS set up its information security system (ISO27001) and received all required authentication certificates of it. Then, based on that, we gradually strengthened the collection, recording and analysis of all operating data to have a bird view over the exact energy consumption of each SDS data center. As a matter of fact, the analysis, technical explorations and project implementation around energy-saving in SDS is carried on year after year to ensure that we have green and energy-saving data centers under solid information security management.
