Upgrade Data Advantages and Create Added-Value for Industries: the 7th SIPA Forum Held Successfully!
2018-08-10
On July 27, 2018, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, the 7th SDS Industry Progress Alliance Forum (SIPA) was held in success. The SDS Industry Progress Alliance Forum (SIPA) is a communication platform that SDS developed for IT managers to ‘update information, exchange knowledge and share experience’ in an easy and relaxed environment. In this year’s theme, “D!Growth”, the letter “D” is the initial letter of “Data” and the “!” is the mathematical sign for “Data Factorial”. Together, it means ‘Upgrade data advantages and create added-value for industries’. The Forum tries to present diversified data advantage upgrading plans involving IDX New LanGuang Data Center, Cloud, management tools and cases, and, unfolded an insightful discussion over enterprise data upgrading for the 70 enterprise users in the presence.
In the opening speech, Dr. Zhang Jianfeng, the GM of SDS, first expressed his sincere thanks to all distinguished guests for their kind support, saying “SDS started its operation as a communication service provider in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. In 2005, we launched the first BGP and network management service products in domestic market. In 2007, we initiated a new transformation and built the first ‘high-standard, high-quality and high-class’ SDS IDX Data Center. In 2014, we began setting foot in Cloud service market. This year, we launched a new LanGuang IDX Data Center (LanGuang IDX II) and VDC2.0, a hyper-converged Cloud computing platform based on Openstack and SDN technologies. This hyper-converged platform is superior not only because it is based on open-source technologies, but also because it supports container computing, Docker, Kubernetes and other new technologies. SDS always moves forward. It’s our wish that with the help of SIPA, people in this industry could unite together and help industrial users move forward together!”
Upgraded and Updated, the SDS New IDX Data Center
Mr. Xiang Kaichen, Manager of Technical Support Department of SDS, shared his views with distinguished guests in his speech ‘Upgraded and Updated, the New IDX Data Center’. The LanGuang IDX II has a total floor area of 6,800m2. That’s a room big enough to accommodate 1,000 computer racks. The whole structure is designed and built in line with Tier 4 standards, currently the highest one in the world, and, therefore, is able to maintain a 1.5 PUE value. In case of a power interruption, the USP unit can support all computer racks running at full load for 15 minutes, with another 12 hours ensured by a diesel generator unit. The cooling of all computer rooms are done with air-cooled water chiller units that can ensure a 15-minute cool storage time. In terms of fire protection, we have a ‘VESDA + INERGEN’ solution. In conclusion, the LanGuang IDX II can ensure 100% service availability level (SAL) and world-class service quality.
Cloud for the world and the world as one community
As a kind of technology and a realization model, the Cloud computing is making computing resource a social infrastructural facility serving the public. This is a turning that has a far-reaching impact on the information technology in itself and its application. In a speech ‘Cloud for the World and the World as One Community’, Mr. Fu Yuanyun, an expert in Cloud computing, pointed out that the SDS Clouds are better than traditional Clouds in 6 ways, i.e. ‘Fast speed and low delay’, ‘High performance and load-balancing capacity’, ‘Flexibility and data security’, ‘Rapid positioning’, ‘Quality assurance’ and ‘Cost control’. In addition, SDS has the ability to turn the intangible computing resources into tailored solutions that nicely fit customer needs or, even better, to embed the intangible computing resources into specific business models to help customers cope with the changing market and business challenges.
Presentation of DevOps, Agile Concepts and Integration Tool Chain Platform
In the digital transformation journey, a great number of digital applications are closely woven into an enterprise’s business processes. But the fast changing nature of digital systems dictates that enterprises must embrace the DevOps concepts. SDS Cloud already has a practical platform to help enterprise users achieve highly efficient, effective and easy management over their digital applications. Mr. Yuan Peng, an expert of Cloud computing and a partner of SDS, brought the audience a speech on ‘DevOps, Agile Concepts and Integration Tool Chain Platform’. According to his introduction, a user could have a direct view of the running state of his application systems and services, as well as the condition of all containers and resources, via the visualized Kanban in SDS DevOps Platform. The SDS DevOps Platform also offers a lot of project management functions for large-scale enterprises to administrate multiple micro-service systems in a more systematic way and achieve the integration of management and resources. In short, with SDS DevOps, enterprise users could enjoy great flexibility, scalability and business changes coming with global digitalization.
Gold Partners of the Year
Roche Pharmaceutical and OKCard

In this year’s SIPA, Roche (Shanghai) Pharmaceutical and AnFuBao Business (the OKCard) were invited to the stage to share their experiences as a user of SDS services. The Roche is a transnational pharmaceutical company founded in 1896. The year 1926 is the first time Roche comes to China. In 2013, Roche chose to land its IT operation in SDS’s LanGuang IDX Data Center. This was an important step to SDS as well. Based on extensive network resources, 99.9% SAL, and 24/7 high quality O&M services, SDS finally made this important progress of serving medical enterprises. The OKCard was founded in December 2010 as a third-party payment clearing company solely invested by the BL.com, an online shopping subsidiary of Bailian Group. In SDS IDX computing room, the OKCard has access to many supports, such as an overall business monitoring and warning platform, standardized process management, complete emergency responding and handling process, and 99.99% SAL. The 99.99% means a yearly 4 hours downtime in total, a strong promise SDS made to enterprise users operating in payment clearing industry. The experience sharing made by Roche and OKCard turned out to be another highlight of this event. Hopefully, customers from other industries, e.g. finance, manufacturing, software, internet and others, could all come and use SIPA for a more extensive information exchange.
The 2018 SIPA provided customers with a professional communication platform to understand the latest changes in Cloud market and possible accesses to Cloud computing. It is a great place where customers can find extensive resources, opportunities of vertical communication with IT service providers and of horizontal communication between their IT managers. The success of SIPA successfully set up a bridge between SDS gold users and SDS product R&D team. It our wish that the SIPA could achieve greater success in future, leave great memories to guests and SDS people, and boost the confidence in all people for better future development!
