On October 24^th, 2018, Shanghai, the 2018 (the 3^rd) SDS Forum of IT Managers from Biomedical Industry was successfully held in Dong Jiao State Guest Hotel!

In biotechnological world, enterprises need a more elastic computing and storage environment and a faster automatic up/down-scaling capacity to support their data computing, analysis and storage work. This is a challenge that’s somewhat beyond traditional or existing IT facilities. On the other hand, partly because of state policies and regulations, partly because of the internal need of high stability and availability level, the bio-tech organizations have to put a higher requirement on Cloud management. The 2018 Forum is created to offer a cross-industry communication platform where the SDS could have a better understanding about, for example, the conceptual framework of IT environment that biomedical enterprises have in mind or current problems in their IT layouts, and listen to the experiences of their IT managers, so that SDS could develop more tailored service products more nicely fitting the needs of biomedical industry. 

Just as a book title said, Every Cloud is Different. Be it Azure, AWS, Ali Cloud or Google Cloud, each has different requirement on technical sets. Usually, it’s necessary for an enterprise that is working on a mixed deployment to increase its operation scale to some extent to meet all the needs of the project, because it is a great challenge to maintain business operations and accomplish the transition at the same time. As a matter of fact, the enterprise needs to take into consideration both the daily progress and what changes the innovation would bring to the long-term development of the organization.  

 

The attendees of the 2018 Forum include the IT managers from leading pharmaceutical producers in the industry. In the Open Discussion session of the Forum, they kindly shared their planning and views, which was the best part of the event. Since the day of October 24^th has by default been recognized as World Programmer’s Day, the frank exchange of practices and insights on Cloud service between people from SDS, experts and guests in the presence gave this special day a special meaning. This is how IT people celebrate a festival of their own, by innovation, and by bringing changes and hopes to the progress of biotechnology.
