With You on the Journey to Digitalized Operation: SDS 2018 Thanksgiving Party for Key Customers Ended in Success

2018-11-29

On November 23rd, Suzhou City, SDS successfully held 2018 Thanksgiving Party for Key Customers. In his opening speech, Mr. Zhang Jianfeng, the President of the SDS, stressed, “Along with the continuous development of emerging technologies like Cloud computing, big data, 5G, Internet of Things, some new questions and requirements have been brought in front of the IT people. The deployment of applications should be done in a more flexible and quicker way to give the right support to customer business innovation and development. In the past couple of years, SDS has made a lot of proactive innovations and attempts in data center, Cloud and network technologies to help our customers combine traditional service structure with the micro service structure in Cloud environment. It’s expected that this meeting could offer a good platform of exchange and learning, a good platform where people could share experiences in digital transformation.”

Back Out from ‘Test-Water’ Strategy, Drive Development with Digital Transformation

Mr. Zhu Jingbo, Director of Business Development, Rackspace China

The digital transformation driven by new IT technologies like Cloud computing could indeed create great value for business organizations. But when actually facing the complicated multi-cloud world, they’d find that they will have to deal with multiple Cloud suppliers, set up an internal team to do some R&D by themselves, bear high expenditures invested in the human resources and project implementation and O&M, and solve all kinds of unexpected problems coming along the entire process.

For that reason, Mr. Zhu Jingbo, Director of Business Development, Rackspace China, urged that business organizations should choose credible Managed Service Providers (MSP) as their partners and achieve the best possible use of new technologies like Cloud computing to drive their business innovation and digital transformation.

Rackspace is a world-leading ITaaS service provider. In 2017 and 2018, it was the ‘Global MSP Leader’ in Gartner ranking list and the ‘North America Host Private Cloud Leader’ in Forrester ranking list. Currently, it has over 150,000 users in 150 countries and regions across the world.

In China, in a win-win cooperation relation, Rackspace and SDS are ready to provide enterprise users with high-quality host private Cloud services. Mr. Zhu Jingbo said, “It’s been ten years since we had our first cooperation project. In future, we will promote our cooperation to provide more products and service options, and, particularly, unified service experience worldwide for local and international organizations.” It’s believed that based on SDS’s convincing capacity in delivering platform architecture and network services, solutions nicely fitting the stage of a customer’s Cloud development, both companies would help users get an advantageous position in the digital transformation.

Enterprise Cloud-Network Integration: Nonfunctional Needs

Mr. Yang Xian, Manager of Cloud Service Department, SDS

According to Gartner’s latest statistics, in 2018, the world IT service market had already standing above the line of one trillion dollars. And it’s estimated that in coming years the global IT service market would continue growing at a pace between 4.5% to 5% year on year. From a macroscopic view, the IT service market would remain for a long time in the stage of stable development. Among all niche IT service markets, it is the IaaS service market that shows the fastest growth. And the IaaS is exactly what SDS excels at.

“It’s inevitable for enterprises to follow the tide of digital transformation and upload business operations to Clouds. At the state strategic planning level, the government also did a lot of work to support and promote enterprises to go-Cloud at a faster pace and in a greater scale. Together with our customers, we will deliver better services to more users”, Mr. Yang Xian pointed out in his key note speech.

When the Cloud is ready, it’s ideal for the enterprise to decouple the infrastructure with its systems completely and move its current applications and architecture smoothly to the Cloud platform, so that it could not only retain current architecture and using habits, but also make better use of current investment. All it requires for the enterprise is to take a good care of its applications and data.

In reality, before going Cloud, an enterprise will have to invest a lot of time and resources to sort out current architectures, redesign a system and network architecture to be used on the Cloud, and learn how to use the new operating & maintenance process. To make better use of the Cloud services, some enterprises would have to consider the Cloud authentications of different suppliers. Such intangible investment will in the end increase the difficulty and cost of going Cloud.

To eliminate those pain points, SDS did a careful study over the actual needs of our users and developed a one-stop Cloud solution that provides VMware-based private Cloud service (an IaaS service) plus all-round management support. That is to say, from planning, design, migration to implementation and automatic O&M, SDS could escort an enterprise user up to the Cloud in a smooth process, together with consistent pre-Cloud and post-Cloud user experience.

Mr. Yang Xian said, “Among others, we pay more attention to the features and quality of our services. With that in view, SDS built its data centers in accordance with high construction and operation standards and developed several data centers in different locations to meet the architecture security requirement of 3-datacenters-in-2-locations. There is no need for any user to hold any fixed asset. But at the same time, they could still enjoy all the benefits of an IaaS service platform at the same security level that a self-built datacenter meets.”

In the digital transformation process, enterprises need to face many challenges, including increasingly shrinking living space, cost margin, multi-regional service space, labor and efficiency margin, etc. After the Cloud-network integration, once connected with SDS’s backbone network, multi-regional and multi-Cloud services will become easily available for enterprises to achieve an expansion of IT environment in a more efficient and effective way.

A Personal Example: SDS – The Preferable Choice of Digital Transformation

Round Table Discussion: Enable the Digital Transformation of Enterprises

Mr. Bao Kai, the Vice GM of SDS Marketing & Sales Department, revealed that in the past a few years, the Revenue Growth Rate of SDS’s Cloud Computing business was as high as 50%. For customers from finance, futures, E-commerce, large-scale manufacturing and other key industries, the SDS Cloud Computing business has played an effective role in helping them reduce operating costs and other stress on IT operation.

In the Roundtable session of the Party, representing all SDS customers, people from 99Bill, Roche Group and other companies started an enthusiastic debate on actual practices in the industry. Mr. Bao presided at the Roundtable session.

The representative of 99Bill said, “We built a cooperative relation with SDS almost on the same day we were established. By now, it’s been a decade-long close cooperation. SDS’s professionalism ratified itself. When we need a support, the first name cross our mind is SDS.”

Then, he gave an example. In 2016, the 99Bill was chosen by Wanda Group as the payment clearing vendor of its Double-11 event. But a problem came. A participant of the event didn’t have enough bandwidth. In the end, with the help of SDS, we finished the installation and bandwidth expansion of 13 private lines within 35 days. And the SDS completed its part of job within 20 days. Everybody can see how remarkable, professional and efficient the SDS service is.

Roche Group is a world famous pharmaceutical enterprise. Driven by its business development, its demand for Cloud technology keeps growing. The representative of Roche indicated that, based on great computing rooms and internet resources, SDS helped it created a seamless cross-Cloud environment by building a connection between Roche Datacenter and public Cloud service providers.

By the end of the Roundtable session, Mr. Huang Wei, the Vice President of the SDS, pointed out, “The tide of digitalization is coming. The world before IT people will get even more complicated. It is SDS’s hope that we could make progress together with our customers side by side. And SDS will provide customers with the best possible service in a down-to-earth manner.”

Then, Mr. Huang indicated that SDS has nearly 20 years experience in operating underlying structures. In future, SDS would continue to provide solid and robust underlying services and improve service availability and operational efficiency. In the meantime, SDS would continue to invest in Cloud computing and the vertical industries to provide solutions in a more open and more inclusive way, so that our users could focus more on jobs at application level. This is how SDS will deliver the most powerful support for enterprises to carry on digital transformation.
