SDS’s Speech: Align business logics, focus on users experience and introduce a great Cloud experience.

To companies that have been using Cloud computing services, it’s essential to evaluate the Cloud computing costs and then work out optimized Cloud computing cost strategies. In spite of the cost evaluation tools that Cloud service providers offer to help their users to understand their Cloud computing cost, the changes in actual service using, use frequency and down-time would lead to a Cloud computing cost that is much higher than what they expected. In other words, there is no guarantee that such tools could give correct results. Also, for multi-Cloud using scenario, there is another managerial difficulty involving. Since the network equipments of different Cloud operators are run with different program instruction systems, they have to deal with the difficulty of deployment management. For example, the traditional distributive network equipment deployment has the defects that there is no way for it to detect and identify the exceptions of peripheral equipments or support smart distribution. For example, in locations attracting great amount of visiting traffic, it couldn’t realize any smart traffic distribution even when there are idling resources available in proximal nodes. Also, due to the barrier (closure) between different protocols, it’s impossible for people to use on-demand programming or conduct flexible adjustment with traditional networks.

In the welcoming speech, Dr. Zhang Jianfeng, the General Manager of the SDS, said, “The faster evolution and development of Cloud technologies has brought about many new Cloud management problems in enterprise Cloud market. It is, subsequently, urgent for Cloud data centers to develop Cloud services featuring new functions like active and on-demand support, ensuring reliability and isolation, and improving integration capacity and business logic alignment. Based on its self-owned intellectual property rights, SDS can provide users with easy and fast Cloud experience.”

Dr. Zhang Jianfeng, SDS General Manager, delivering opening speech

The 2019 Summit invited some heavy-weight figures in the industry to share their insights into the future development of the data center services. Mr. He Baohong, Chief Director of Cloud Computing & Big Data Research Institute (CCBDRI) of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), gave a speech on ‘The Integration of Operating and Maintenance & Data Centers in Future’. He said, ‘On its development path, from TCP/IP technology to Cloud technology and from communication infrastructure to computing infrastructure, the data center industry has gone through quite a few transformations. Now, in general, an industry centering on Cloud computing products/services has already established in itself. Data centers, the infrastructure of infrastructures of the industry, have begun playing an increasingly important role. And, since there is no room for any service interruption, to maintain operating and maintenance at an extremely high level has become the greatest challenge before the industry. As a matter of fact, the operating and maintenance of data centers is getting more and more standardized, modularized, intelligent and automatic, and, has started involving itself in the introduction of IoT technologies. It looks to me that a data center operator in IT industry is more like an IT company running real estate business, or, in real estate industry, more like a real estate company running IT business. We are already in the era of digital economy and the infrastructure of the infrastructures of digital economy is the data center.’

Mr. He Baohong, Chief Director of CAICT Cloud Computing & Big Data Research Institute, sharing his views on a topic.

Professor Zeng Jianqiu, Ph. D Supervisor of the School of Economics and Management of BUPT, Doctor of University of Cambridge, UK, brought his exploration on a topic in spotlight, i.e. 5G and Networks in Future. In his opinion, the 5G is a kind of gigabyte broadband technology, the cornerstone on which the infrastructure of new information technologies, i.e. multi-dimensional broadband network, is built. The 5G network connection technologies will enable human-to-human, human-to-things and things-to-things connection, in other words, create an Internet of Everything. The 5G technology embodies the new generation IT technologies. The 5G application is totally scenario-based. In conclusion, he pointed out that the service and innovation in future will be OaaS-centered (Operations As A Service) and that the core concept of OaaS business mode will be expressed as ‘Operations will be driven by customer needs and should become a service process of meeting customer needs’, i.e. Operations As A Service.

Mr. Zeng Jianqiu, Ph. D Supervisor of School of Economics and Management BUPT, Doctor of University of Cambridge, UK, giving a speech;

Dr. He Renlong, the Vice General Manager of Industrial Internet Center, the Chief Scientist of the East China Branch of CAICT, shared his insights on another important topic, i.e. 5G and Industrial Internet. He anticipated that, in future, the 5G mobile communication technology would continue supporting mobile communication applications running with different operational parameters in a more effective way, and, supporting the deployment of communication services with greater flexibility. The 5G mobile communication technology will be one of the key elements powering future network society. Also, to welcome the coming of the 5G era, the communication industry needs to improve, upgrade and construct broadband network infrastructure to meet new industrial needs, and, to build an out-of-plant network that features low time delay, high reliability and extensive coverage.

Dr. He Renlong, the Vice General Manager of Industrial Internet Center, the Chief Scientist of the East China Branch of CAICT, delivering a presentation;

Next, Mr. Yang Zhiguo, the Director General of the Industrial Technology Innovation Union of China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), introduced to audiences his thoughts on financial data center operation in speech ‘Sail with Major Trends and Start Greater Momentum in Financial technology Industry’. He said that in Chinese banking data center industry, the combination of traditional bank data center and new Internet banking service had become one of the main streams. Although the operating and maintenance remains to be one of the top concerns of the bank data centers, the focus of attention has already been shifted from originally the security, stability and reliability to presently the high-speed, orderliness and effectiveness. And, it’s anticipated that the focus will again leap to the level of High-Quality Operating and Maintenance featuring ‘Experience, Efficiency and Effectiveness’. In addition to that, the IT management should be upgraded to a more elaborated, automatic, AI-powered, integrated, digitalized and visualized level. Also, on the basis of the traditional management process centering around ‘monitoring, management and control’, the IT operation management framework should also continue evolving to adapt itself to the higher customer expectation on experience, efficiency and effectiveness.

Mr. Yang Zhiguo, the Director General of the Industrial Technology Innovation Union of China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), sharing his views;

Mr. Qian Yu, the Manager of Computing Business Department of SDS, introduced the development direction of the SDS’s Network and Cloud Computing in the finale presentation. With its Cloud Data Network, SDS resolved many traditional network problems in a very intelligent way.

Mr. Qian Yu, the Manager of Computing Business Department of SDS, making an introduction on future networks;

At Management Level:

  •  Use SDN 3-layer architectural model to ensure management flexibility;

  •  Use OVSDB+Openflow southbound interface protocol in-between controllers and network equipments;

At Business Level:

  •  Use overlay networks to separate Cloud leaseholders’ networks from underlying network;

  •  Use underlay networks to achieve the forwarding of traditional IP networks;
  •  SDS Cloud Network technology currently support VxLAN, MplsOudp/MplsOGRE and similar technologies;

Problem-solving Senario:

  • The leaseholder may independently define its internal IP, free from any trouble that may be caused by the repeated IP addresses held by different leaseholders;

  • In terms of mixed data center deployment, there is a Same VLAN set up between different users that enables people to use the same vlan mapping different Vxlan;

In the Summit, discussion over forefront topics was unrolled one after another and ended with the last speech, an introduction of the new generation SDS Cloud. It’s believed that the wide-range topics would throw a light on future innovation and exploration in the industry in the new era, give a thrust to the future development of the data center industry, and help players in different industries to capture the upgrading opportunities to step on a more intelligent level and create a better future. The 13th SDS Union of Value-Added Service Summit ended in great success.
