April 22, 2019, Shanghai, sponsored by the Big-Data Branch of CIIA (China Information Industry Association) and IDCUN (China International Data Center Industry Development Union), the 9^th China Data Center Industry Conference (DCIC2019) and China (Shanghai) International Data Center Industry Exhibition unfolded in the Shanghai New International Expo Center. In the event, the SDS IDX Data Center honorably received the ‘Data Center of the Year 2018-2019’ award.  

In a time when 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Made-in-China 2025 and AI technologies emerge as the main powers driving innovation and digital transformation, and when the integration of manufacturing and information technologies going on at a higher level, it is essential for Chinese data centers to continue upgrading themselves to a more Cloud-based, up-scaled, greener and smarter level.

Being one of the essential infrastructures underlying big-data industry development in this digital economy era, all data-centers find themselves transforming from an stage of extensive and barbaric expansion to a stage of more refined and steadier growth, and, from a high energy and resource consumption mode to a mode that cares more about energy-saving and operation-efficiency. The data-center industry is apparently sailing into a new era.

Responsible state ministries and functional committees and many local governments have already moved the energy-saving and green data center on the top of agenda. Currently, in some tier-one cities, especially Beijing and Shanghai, the local administrations have begun tightening the requirements on the output value per unit of energy use and the emission level of data center operators.

In last February, with the issuance of the Guidance on Strengthening the Construction of Green Data Centers, China MIIT, China National Energy Administration, China National Government Office Administration made it very clear to the industry that a sound green data-center standard evaluation system and energy and resource regulatory system will be set up, a group of excellent green data centers will be selected and introduced as industrial example, and innovative green technological products and solutions are to be launched into the market.

The IDCUN unrolled the event of 2018-2019 China Data Center Appraisal & Award with a view to honor advanced products, set up benchmarks and examples for the industry and guide the industry into the track of healthy and sustainable development.  

In the morning of April 21, the day before the award ceremony, in the Forum of Data Center Infrastructure Technology, one event of the 9^th China Data Center Industry Conference, Mr. Gu Feng, the Data Center Department Manager of SDS delivered a key-note speech, IDX Data Center Green Construction Management Practices. In his speech, he shared with the guests from different industries the latest improvement that the SDS IDXs had made on green technologies. As a matter of fact, these improvements not only further ensured the security and stability of all services that the SDS data centers provide, and guaranteed all in-house users an agreeable working environment as well.
